ravel to Russia isn’t easy these days as that country imposes restrictions in retaliation for sanctions by much of the world as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. However, it is possible and the heart of Mother Russia is a rough circle northeast of Moscow known as the Golden Ring of culturally-significant heritage cities, such as Vladimir, Suzdal, and Yaroslavl. The ‘crème de la crème’ is, of course, Sergiev Posad. Insets of these ancient cities are included on this map, along with a very detailed map of the region north and east of Moscow. The reverse side portrays western, or ‘European’ Russia from its western border to Perm and from St, Petersburg to the Caspian Sea.
